AAFCO says "Dog food needs to be complete and balanced "

Dog food company's spend thousands of dollars in testing to ensure their food meets the AAFCO standard.

This standard measures over 42 different nutrients including proteins, fats, calories, vitamins and minerals.

AAFCO doesn't regulate the quality of the proteins or nutrients in food, just that they are present.

If you are up to the challenge of making your own dog food..Great!

However at the very lease do your homework, research on-line or buy a good canine diet cookbook.

Cooking fresh chicken and broccoli in olive oil is tasty, however that is not a balanced carnivore diet.
